Updates from the last post:
Karen has gone back to 4th grade full time. We decided together that the best thing is for her to finish 4th grade. The 5th grade teachers will be able to do 6th grade stuff with her and challenge her well. Then in 6th grade, she'll be able to go to 7th grade classes more easily than she was switching classes now. She's happy with this decision. She is doing the 5th gr math during 4th gr math time. She was sad because she was missing out on the Oregon Trail discussion time and research for a project. They are preparing for their field trip to the coast and Fort Clatsop, and all the fun stuff in between.
Curtis is doing great in speech therapy. There are really only 2 sounds he isn't getting: /r/ and /l/. But those are older-kid sounds to master. He is at 80% inteligibility, and they want him at 90% without having sight cues; ie: see that he's playing with a truck, so you know he's talking about a truck. Yesterday we had some sun, so I started vacuuming out the van. He took that job over, then realized that the shop van had 'blow', so he wanted to blow the leaves out of the flower beds. He gave up, but we did rake out the beds and are ready for some blooms! He dug several holes to plant some magic bean seeds in... he's read Jack and The Beanstalk a few times!
Paul has been working some crazy hours at Symetix. They are trying to get a new maching ready for a trade show in New York for the 13th. It's not close to being ready and it has to be crated for shipping via semi truck by this Monday. So, poor Pauly has been working 6am to 8pm most days. Unfortunately he has to work Saturday and probably Sunday this weekend, but Monday should be 'normal'. He gets to take Wednesday off for a visit from his parents, so that will be sooooo nice! He's so tired. I'm very proud of him for working so hard on this machine. He doesn't complain about it. I know he is looking forward to it getting done.
Other big excitement for us.... we are getting guinea pigs! We are getting 2 for free, with a cage and other little things. We will hit Wal*Mart tonight to get more feed and stuff. Karen has named them Joe and Abraham. She hasn't been able to sleep she's so excited. I am looking forward to it, too.
The girls are still with us, kind of. They are doing a trial home visit, but they have all been so sick that Mom hasn't gone to work for 2 weeks. Hopefully by next Wednesday she'll be able to go to work. If so, then I'll be her babysitter, where she'll drop them off and pick them up after. They should go home for good on the 21st.
Then for Spring Break we are heading to Seattle. I'm so happy! It's been a couple years since we've gotten to visit our friends up there, so we are all looking forward to it.
